Select Bearings
There are various types of rolling bearings. When selecting them, the following factors can be considered for selection.
a. The size, direction and nature of the load
Ball bearings are suitable for light loads and roller bearings are suitable for heavy loads and shock loads. When the rolling bearing is subject to pure axial load, the thrust bearing is generally selected; when the rolling bearing is subjected to pure radial load, a deep groove ball bearing or a short cylindrical roller bearing is generally selected; when the rolling bearing is subjected to pure radial load, there is not much For axial loads, deep groove ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings, tapered roller bearings, self-aligning balls or self-aligning roller bearings can be used. When the axial load is large, angular contact with a large contact angle can be used. Ball bearings and tapered roller bearings, or combinations of radial bearings and thrust bearings, are particularly suitable when extremely high axial loads or particularly high axial stiffness are required.
b. Allowed speed
There are big differences due to the type of bearing. In general, bearings with low friction and low heat are suitable for high speeds. When designing, the rolling bearing should work under the condition of its limit rotation speed.
c. rigidity
When the bearing is under load, elastic deformation occurs at the contact portion between the bearing ring and the rolling element, and the deformation amount is proportional to the load, and the ratio of the bearing rigidity determines the rigidity of the bearing. Generally, the rigidity of the bearing can be increased by the pre-tightening of the bearing; in addition, in the bearing support design, considering the combination and arrangement of the bearings, the bearing support rigidity can also be improved.
d. Centering performance and installation error
After the bearing is installed in the working position, installation and positioning defects are often caused due to manufacturing errors. At this time often due to the shaft yield and thermal expansion and other reasons, the bearing is subjected to excessive load, causing early damage. Self-aligning bearings can overcome the defects caused by mounting errors on their own and are therefore suitable bearings for such applications.
e. Installation and disassembly
Tapered roller bearings, needle roller bearings, etc., are detachable bearing types inside and outside the ring (the so-called separate bearings), easy installation and removal.
f. Marketability
Even if the bearings are listed in the catalogue, there may not be sales in the market; on the contrary, some of the bearings that are not listed in the catalogue are mass-produced. Therefore, it should be clear whether the bearings used are readily available.
