1.2.3 Thrust ball bearing
As shown in Fig. 1.33, the contact angle of the thrust ball bearing is 90 °. All ball bearings with a contact angle greater than 45 ° are called thrust ball bearings. As with deep groove ball bearings, thrust ball bearings are suitable for high-speed operation. In order to provide the bearing with certain external centering function, the thrust ball can be installed on the spherical race, as shown in Fig. 1.34. When the contact angle is 90, the bearing cannot bear the radial load.
